Technical Tips
These are tips that deal with correcting technical problems encountered with Windows 98.

Start Button Right-Click Menu has Open & Explore options grayed-out
SYMPTOM: When you right-click the Start menu button, the Open and Explore menu options are grayed-out. This stops you from being able to easily edit the Start menu.
RESOLUTION: This problem is generally caused by using the TWEAKUI applet to modify system settings. Specifically, if TWEAKUI is used to "hide" some of the computer's hard drives, the Start menu problem can occur. To correct the problem, do the following:
Start TWEAKUI (via the control panel icon)
Click the My Computer tab
Make sure all the hard drive check boxes are checked. Click (to check) any that are un-checked.
Close TWEAKUI
Reboot your system
After the reboot, the system should be back to normal with the Start menu's right-click menu working properly.
